September Vocal Tip
Get Granular.
What is one thing you would like to focus on in your singing, playing, performing, or speaking? If there is more than one thing, just focus on one—the rest will be there later.
Once you've got it, put your phone on airplane mode, close your laptop, and set a timer for 15 minutes.
Write down a few notes about what you want to work on during this practice session. Once the 15-minute timer goes off, write a few notes about how it went.
Commit to three focused, distraction-free 15-minute sessions in a week.
Then evaluate: What happened? Did you move forward on your goal, or realize maybe something else needs your attention? How does your brain feel compared to after an unstructured week of practice?
My clients often find that a few short, focused practice sessions a week are significantly more impactful than hour-long, aimless work.
Try it—and let me know how it goes! I'd love to hear your feedback.
